Though Canada lynx are wide spread across Canada, they are quite elusive. This Canada lynx safari is the perfect opportunity for any wildlife photographer or wild cat lover to search for see these cats, and to create photographs of this very difficult to find feline. Our very small group, of maximum to guests, ensures that when we do see the cats, that the encounter is intimate and meaningful.

We have chosen a very specific, secret location in Canada as the spot for our Canada lynx photo tour for its densities of lynx, accessibility, photography aspects, and exclusiveness. It is a beautiful area with intact boreal forest that is perfect habitat for both the Canada lynx, as well as its favorite prey, the snowshoe hare. To ensure that this site remains intact, and not overrun with photographers, we ask that you sign a non-disclosure agreement, which in the long term will protect the lynx and the other wildlife of the area.

We visit the area during the cold winter breeding season, in March, as the lynx are more active and therefore provide a higher chance to be seen. In previous tours, we have also always seen a mother Canada lynx and her kittens, though we feel very lucky to have done so. While our main targets are of course always the lynx, we will have the chance to see other wildlife, like Great Gray Owls, Ruffed Grouse, and possibly even moose. 

Since we run the private Canada lynx tour in winter, when we see a Canada lynx, you get to see its incredibly large feet, an adaptation allowing it to walk over the snow with ease. The white snow also means that visually the scene is often quite clean, leading to stunning photographs. With the winter snow, it also allows us to see tracks of the wildlife of the boreal forest, a fantastic way to learn about the movements of the animals.
